How to Remove Connect To Remote PC tab from RD Web Access?
In RD Web Access we see a Tab called Connect To Remove PC which is a feature lets you connect any PC using the name within your Network. However you can’t see this feature in your RDS Web Client since it works only in Internet Explorer which depends on the Activex component. Hence in most cases the companies want to remove it.
Not sure, Microsoft has a plan to remove it from the next version of Windows Server since they already dropped the support of Internet Explorer.
However here are the simple steps you can do it to hide Connect To Remote PC tab from your Remote Desktop Web Access interface. There are 2 ways,
Remove using IIS Settings
- Go to IIS, Expand RDWeb and click Pages.
- From the Content Panel at right side, select Application Settings. (Double click on it)
- Now scroll down and find the settings called “ShowDesktops”.
- Double click on it and change the value to false.
Remove using Web.config file.
- Go to RDWeb/Pages folder.
- Just copy and backup your web.config file.
- Open it in a text editor and search for the key called “ShowDesktops”.
- Change the value to “false”
That’s it, the change should immediately reflect in both ways.
